Panther Powered Civics

We are ecstatic that you are here! Civic engagement — attending town halls, joining community organizations, contacting representatives, volunteering, staying informed between elections — is what keeps democracy alive in the years between ballots. Government works best when citizens don't just show up once every few years, but stay involved: asking questions, holding institutions accountable, and participating in the everyday decisions that shape schools, neighborhoods, and public life.

Knowledge is power! Join our Prairie View A&M University team and the League of Women Voters of Texas panelists, who provide information and tools that empower you to make informed decisions.

Learn how a democracy is powered by the consent of the governed. Voting is how that consent is given— it's the mechanism by which ordinary people, not just those in power, decide who leads and which policies affect their lives. When informed citizens vote, they hold leaders accountable, ensure that government reflects the will of the people, and protect the rights and freedoms that make self-government possible.
